Ranking up also opens new designs for use in players' Coat of Arms. Each promotion gives the user 3 Research points to use for new technologies and skills, as well as allowing access to branches of Research which were previously unavailable. As well as increasing the number of vassals each Lord may have, it also opens the Research to own more Villages. The cost, in honour, of promoting through the ranks increases at each new rank title. From the rank of Knight there is a choice of masculine or feminine titles, the form of title given will depend on the gender the player selects for their avatar.
